“Extreme Couponing” Part Two

Coupons in

I told you last week what I though about the Extreme Couponing show on TLC. It’s going to be on each week for the next few weeks and I wanted to tell you again how unrealistic this show really is. Rasha, at A Full Cup, has written a wonderful post about the realities of the show and what you don’t get to see. Please take the time to visit A Full Cup and get a better understanding of what is really going on with the “Extreme Couponing” series.

This is my theory, if anyone is interested. I think that many shows are “in bed” so to speak, with the manufacturers. Proctor and Gamble, General Mills, Kelloggs, just to name a couple monsters, actually benefit from a show like this. Bottom line, if everyone could get their groceries for free, they would do it. So, the theory being that even if America goes coupon crazy and saves 20% a trip, they will still consume more than normal, because consumer rationale is that if they “save” money, they can spend more. But that is only an opinion.
